History
The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) was established in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in 2015 with the help of the Horizon 2020 Teaming project PlantaSYST. The Department of Technology Transfer and IP Management (DTT&IP) at CPSBB is primarily responsible for promoting all forms of knowledge and technology-transfer. The department also takes care of the communications, networking and policy liaison to develop a close network of stakeholders outside of the scientific community in order to ensure sustainability for CPSBB. Thus, DTT&IP builds a network with local and international partners and will facilitate access to this network for all scientists within CPSBB and PlantaSYST. In doing so, DTT&IP supports the larger CPSBB mission to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of plant living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance plant “health”.

Objectives
• to promote all forms of knowledge and technology transfer
• to develop a close network of a wild stakeholders outside of the scientific community
• to attract additional funds in order to ensure sustainability for the Center
• to create an IP policy and to inform the personnel about management of intellectual property

Services
We provide consultancy on:
• Creation of necessary infrastructure for IP management and technology transfer
• Technology scouting, evaluation for commercialization potential
• Communication, technology marketing
• Negotiating licenses and collaborative agreements
• Facilitating the transfer of research materials and data into and out of the CPSBB
• Supporting collaborations
•Providing public campaign and presenting innovations

Manager
Prof. DSc. Ivan Minkov, Head of DTT&IP

Team
Prof. DSc. Ivan Minkov, Head of DTT&IP
Prof. Minkov has Doctoral degrees in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology. He used to work at the University of Plovdiv, where he headed the Dept. of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology. During that period, he participated in a number of FP6 and FP7 project and received several awards, including an Award from the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MES) for best regional centre in FP6 in Bulgaria., “Pythagoras” price for best performing project leader for 2007-2009, and a Diploma from the MES for good performance in developing research infrastructure in ERA, FP7. Since 2015, he joined CPSBB as Head of DTT&IP. He has 60 registered papers, and more than 2000 citations.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gergana Zahmanova, Postdoctoral researcher at TT&IP
